CANCELLED: Screen Printing Workshop: Moth Migration Project

June 10 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

In this themed screen printing workshop, we will design and print our own moths to be submitted to the crowd-sourced exhibit “Cross Pollination” which will be installed in New Mexico later this summer. Learn the basics of screen printing in this fun and lepidopterous group making event!

Check out the Moth Migration Project Facebook page to see what other people are creating.

$50   Class limit: 6

 Instructor: Sarah Pike

Note from Instructor: We will start the workshop creating drawings of moths that we will later print. I will have images of moths for you to work from but feel free to bring your own. If you bring your own image try printing it out so that the width of the moth is 6″ or smaller. This will be helpful if you’re not confident in your drawing skill. No need for a fancy color image. A simple black & white print from your computer is fine.

If the idea of drawing makes you questions taking this workshop have no fear. I have tips and tricks for people who think they can’t draw.

Instructor bio: Sarah Pike received her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.  She has been an artist in residence at the Frans Masereel Center in Belgium and Steindruck München in Munich, and has printed with the master printers at Hole Editions in Newcastle, UK, Keystone Editions in Berlin, Germany, Stein_Werk in Leipzig, Germany, and Steindruckerei of Ernst and Erika Hanke in Ringgenberg, Switzerland.  Her work has been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in North America and Europe.  Most recently, Pike has been a member of the Studio Art faculty at the Community College of Vermont and taught printmaking at Bennington College where she was the Printmaking Technician.  Pike is currently a working artist in Western Massachusetts, USA.
