Hour Making Series: Two Handmade Books/Journals

Instructor: Arthur De Bow

A beginner’s introduction to bookbinding structures! Learn to make a single signature book and a

Japanese stitch book. All you need is some paper, scissors, a needle and thread and you have

the tools to create a book/journal. Use your book to tell a family story, rubber stamp a poem,

use as a photo album, the usages are limitless! Leave the class with at least 2 finished

books/journals.

All materials are supplied. No prior experience needed.

Instructor bio: Arthur was Exhibits Director/Curator and Director of Alumni Affairs at the Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, OR., for over twenty years. He has directed galleries in Portland and New York, has conducted lectures and workshops around the country on the business side of the arts, and was a competitive ice skater and member of The Ice Classics, the National Gold Medal winning precision ice skating team. An Art and Design major at Norjord University in Denmark and Art and Theatre Arts major at Portland State University, his main work as an artist is Fiber, Book Arts, Prints and Mixed Media.
